ANIME & PERSONIFICATION

ANIME & PERSONIFICATION

One of the main aspect of manga and anime creation is the personification of object which allows them to create imaginary character that are new and cute based on unanimated object. This technique exist in Japanese culture since the 12th century in a book called "Scrolls of Frolicking Animals"

Consequently, this technique had evolve into the real world in which objects had been recreated in human form with personality usually to attract customer or for entertainment purpose.

For example the characters shown above are characters representing the components of the Toyota Prius Car including the headlamp, engine, battery and windshield. They had been used in an advertisement video by toyota to promote its newly release Pruis car.

The same applied to the depiction of internet explorer
and other apps as a character with their own
personality.

Another example shows how anime character in the series
"Saint Young Man" is used to compare Apple
and Microsoft with the description in Japanese
translated as follows:

      Apple:
       - Difficult to tell his age by looks
       - High Aesthetic values and a strong sense of pride
       - Has a lot of influence in the graphic design industry
       - Kind to newcomers but hates having to give detail explanations
       - Thinks out of the box
       - Usually drinks a lot of coffee so prefers decaf

         Microsoft
       - Friendly and has a wide variety of interests
       - Has more friends than he can count
       - While he'll help you out with what ever you need, get on his bad side once the friendship
         maybe difficult to reboot
       - Like dolphins
       - Loves Starbucks drip coffee (dark roast)
